Madrid – Direct flights between Luanda and Madrid, operated by the Angolan airline TAAG, start Monday (27), representing an added value for Angola and Spain.
The route will move passengers and goods, increasing the multidimensional exchange between the two states.
TAAG will operate twice a week, on Thursday and Sunday at 10:55 pm (departure), arriving in Madrid at 5:15 am, respectively.
This route will allow connections to 143 destinations in 43 countries with a single ticket, as part of Iberia (Spanish Airline) network, namely to Europe and the Americas (south and north).
Likewise, passengers of the Spanish airline will have access, from Luanda, to the network of national, intercontinental and African destinations, through TAAG.
Meanwhile, a code-share and interline agreement between TAAG and Iberia was signed on the 5th of May, with a view to strengthening links between Africa and Europe, with the main route between the Angolan and Spanish capitals as the main axis. .
Operationally, this route called Luanda-Madrid, which will operate on the Luanda-Madrid-Porto-Luanda line, will not be fully operated by TAAG, since between Madrid and Porto the operation will be carried out by the Spanish airline, Iberia.
Luanda-Madrid section will be operated by TAAG and the Madrid-Porto section will be operated by the airline Ib TAAG international flights
Overall, the Angolan airline, TAAG, flies to 27 international destinations, with particular emphasis on Portugal, with daily flights, in a total of 14 weekly frequencies.
Frequencies to Portugal are operated with two daily flights on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and on Saturdays. On Tuesdays and Sundays, there is only one flight between the two capitals (Luanda and Lisbon).
In South America, TAAG flies to São Paulo (Brazil) and, in Africa, to Cape Town and Johannesburg, (South Africa), Maputo ( Mozambique), and Lagos (Nigeria).
Cooperation Angola and Spain
The visit of the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, in September 2021, to the Kingdom of Spain gave a “new impetus” to bilateral cooperation between the two States.
On the occasion, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, considered that relations between Angola and Spain are dynamic and have improved, increasingly motivating medium and small Spanish companies to invest in the country.
At this point, the head of Angolan diplomacy said that, with Spain, Angola cooperates in almost all sectors, such as energy and water, health, industry and commerce and education.
TAAG was created in 1938 as DTA - Air Transport Division of the Angolan Ports, Railways and Transport Services Department.
