Menongue – A total of 570 houses in the Boa Esperança neighborhood, on the outskirts of the Menongue city in Cuando Cubango province began to benefit from electricity, with the first Transformation Station (PT) in the locality coming into operation on Monday.
Home connection, within the scope of the implementation of the Integrated Municipal Intervention Plan (PIIM), was made possible with the installation of the 630 KVA Transformer Station (PT), valued at 425 million Kwanzas.
Cutting the equipment tape, made available as part of the celebrations of the Day of the Beginning of the Armed Struggle for National Liberation, marked on February 4th, was the responsibility of the administrator of the municipality of Menongue, José Ernesto da Silva.
The inauguration program also included another 100 KVA PT, which is allowing public lighting in the section between the 23 de Março area and the Caminho-de-Ferro condominium, with a further 65 stations.
On the occasion, José Ernesto da Silva promised to continue with the program to expand the home electricity network in order to allow homes without this asset to benefit, through this project that is being carried out in partnership with the National Electricity Distribution Company (END).
He appealed to the population to take care of the equipment made available so that it has the desired durability and, at the same time, facilitates the security of domestic purposes, the movement of people and goods at night and, at the same time, makes policing proximity easier.
PIIM allowed, in 2023, the inauguration of several electrical equipment for lighting, between the 23 de Março and Tchindandi neighborhoods, as well as the route from the Menongue cemetery to the Agostinho Neto neighborhood, a process that takes place in the Azul and 45 Casas neighborhoods.
