Luanda - The minister of Youth and Sports, Ana Paula do Sacramento, this Friday pointed out entrepreneurship as a way to mitigate unemployment and ensure youth participation in the diversification of the national economy.
The minister, who was speaking at the motivational workshop on youth entrepreneurship, stressed that it is a way to create self-employment and help other young people to benefit from job opportunities for their livelihood and that of their families.
“Despite the limitations imposed by the health crisis caused by Covid-19 and the international economic situation itself, the Angolan government remains committed to providing objective answers to the expectations and desires of the youth, through the implementation of actions outlined in the Integral Youth Development Programme, framed in the National Development Programme (PDN) 2018-2022 ”, she asserted.
Ana Paula do Sacramento adds that the Executive is optimistic about facing the challenges of implementing the National Youth Policy, in order to ensure sustainable access to basic services, professional training, employment and entrepreneurship and, thus, contribute to poverty reduction and socio-economic integration of young people.
According to the minister, the government intends to endow young people with skills and tools that allow them to actively participate in the structuring projects developed within the scope of the Production Support, Export Diversification and Import Replacement Programme (Prodesi).
According to Ana Paula do Sacramento, young people will play a fundamental role in the process of recovering the country's economic stability, since it is entrepreneurs, small and medium-sized companies that give sustainability to the economy.
“It is our actions today that determine the type of future that we will have tomorrow, and that is why we call on you to take full advantage of this opportunity and collaborate with the Executive to guarantee the employment and well-being of young people and their respective families, as we reaffirm that once again”, she said.
To the minister, issues related to the integral development of youths are not exclusive tasks of the government , but it is a commitment of everyone, from families to civil society, young leaders, national and international organizations.
The Economic Youth Training and Orientation Project is aimed at young people with a vocation for entrepreneurship, who in post-training period become eligible to benefit from financing lines of up to 7 million kwanza and plans to reach a total of 20.000 young people countrywide, in the period between 2020 and 2022.
