Luanda - The Angolan government and the agencies of the United Nations System in Angola on Friday launched the project, "Improving synergies between Social Protection and Public Finance Management.
The main aim of the project is to support the approved Social Protection Policy/Strategy in a context of social dialogue, political coordination and technical capacity building of institutions in financial management and service provision to proceed with its implementation.
The three-year project, valued at 1.8 million Euros, defines four interventions with a positive impact on the level of coverage of Social Protection in Angola, contributing to the achievement of the Social Protection Floor in Angola and 1.3 target of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and in all the Government's actions to achieve the goals of the 2018-2022 National Development Plan.
The defined actions include supporting the development of a National Social Protection Policy through a national evaluation-based dialogue process (DNBA), undertaking strategic actions for the preliminary implementation of a performance-based budgeting model in Social Protection institutions, improving the coordination of the Social Protection system and strengthening the capacity of public institutions to increase the budget and improve the delivery of Social Protection services.
