Angolan Government ensures greater wage equity

Luanda - The Secretary of State for Labour and Social Security, Pedro Felipe, said Tuesday in Luanda that the Government program includes some measures to ensure greater equity in wage policy.

Pedro Felipe who was speaking during a meeting with the Ombudswoman, Florbela Araújo, for these measures to be successfully implemented implies an update in social security.

In this regard, the government recently launched the “Coercive Collection of Social Security” program which makes mandatory to companies pay their debts to Social Security for the benefit of their insureds.

The Secretary of State presented as a challenge the remuneration of professional internships in the Public Administration, taking into account that the Angolan legal framework was designed for the business sector.

On the other hand, Pedro Filipe made it known that, since the institutionalization of the Single Recruiting Entity, the body responsible for the management of public tenders in the civil service, it has been possible to reduce the bureaucracy.

For her part, the Ombudswoman, Florbela Araújo, raised concerns in the field of Public Administration, Labour and Social Security, and stressed the need for an increase in inspectors.

Florbela Araújo also advocated a better interpretation of Presidential Decree No 85/23, which approves the transition to the final framework of the Civil Service of waged staff under contract, registered in the Integrated System of Financial Management of the State (SIGFE), which should cover the staff of the offices of the Holders of the Organs of Sovereignty, as well as of the Central and Local Administration and of the State.

Florbela Araújo also reinforced the need to pay more attention to the most vulnerable segment of society, which includes the elderly, children, women and former combatants and homeland veterans.
