Ndalatar-Police forces detained on Friday, in the municipality of Lucala, province of Cuanza-Norte, José da Costa Pedro (Cabobo or Famous), 36 years old, one of those allegedly involved in the death of professor Laurindo Vieira.
According to a source from the National Police Provincial Command, the individual was detained in the village of Cahumbe, 15 kilometers from the municipal headquarters of Lucala, at an uncle's residence.
The arrest occurred following complaints from residents, who noticed a strange citizen in the residence.
José Pedro was transferred to Luanda, where he will be taken to the judicial authorities.
Sociologist Laurindo Vieira was the victim of gunshots, outside a bank branch, in the Patriota area, municipality of Talatona (Luanda).
Recently, the SIC presented five other likely suspects, three of which were directly involved in the action. These are Hélder Ricardo Dala de Carvalho (Pambala or Pampam), 23 years old and confessed perpetrator of the shooting, and Adriano de Jesus Fragoso Junior (Mula), 33 years old, who controlled people who withdrew large amounts from banks.
The third individual was identified as Raúl Francisco Domingos Gaieta (Raúl), married, 36 years old, who was driving a personalized taxi from the company UGO, used in the criminal action.
The detainees revealed the direct involvement of two others, specifically Camaro, leader of the group, and Caboba or Famoso, driver of the motorcycle used in the action.
Laurindo Vieira was the first director of the office of the first Deputy Ombudsman, member of the MPLA Central Committee and held, until the time of his death, the position of rector of the Gregório Semedo University.
Born in Dange-Quitexe, in the province of Uíge, he had a degree in sociology and a master's degree in educational sciences from the University of Porto, in Portugal.
The university professor gained recognition for his work in the educational area and as a commentator on TV Zimbo and TPA public televisions, where he lent his knowledge on subjects of great social and political relevance. DS/IMA/OHA/DOJ
