Luanda - Angola and China Wednesday in Luanda intensified exchange of experiences on global governance in human rights matters.

These aspects were discussed between the National Assembly's Commission on Human Rights, Citizenship and the Environment Vigílio da Ressurreição Tyova and the Special Representative for Human Rights Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, Yang Xiao Kun.

Vigílio Tyova said the meeting provided an opportunity to find out how human rights is dealt with in China, which it applies at international level to the recommendations that have been forwarded by the Human Rights Council.

The politician said the Chinese diplomat learnt about how in Angola, the application of human rights and citizenship protection is structured, organized and above all the engagement of the parliament in the defense and freedoms of citizens.

"We must not forget that China, its political regime, instruments and actions are different from those of the Angolan Republic, so everything must be properly assessed, despite the fact that human rights are universal, remembering that China has been a partner of Angola for many years and for this reason various aspects can be cooperated on," Tyova said.

The MP guaranteed that Angola has sufficient and necessary instruments to protect human rights, as set out in its constitution and that the 10th Commission is responsible for checking  the legislative initiatives and legal instruments that enter parliament to prevent the violation of any norm related to human rights.

"Our job as legislators is to ensure that the legislation passed does not violate constitutional laws and norms”, the MP said.

Yang Xiao Kun, on his turn, said the meeting provided an opportunity to learn about the role played by the 10th commission in this area and the mechanisms and measures adopted to protect human rights in Angola.

The Chinese diplomat said he exchanged ideas on the achievements made in human rights in both countries and agreed to promote cooperation in the various areas in favor of the well-being of both peoples. EVC/PA/AMP
