Luanda - Angola on Thursday took up the presidency of the Civil Society Forum of the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries (CPLP), during the holding of the extraordinary assembly to renew mandates for the 2022/2024 term, held via video conference.
During its mandate, Angola will focus on the academic and business mobility issue among member states, as well as fighting poverty.
According to Angola's civil society coordinator, Lopes Trigo, with this mandate, Angola will work to help member countries implement projects that embrace the global values of fighting poverty, nutritional and food security, and the consolidation of democracy, among others.
Trigo said he is convinced that with the support of the whole country he can have a good mandate for the good of the forum and the member states.
Cape Verde organized the 3rd meeting of the Civil Society Forum of the CPLP (FSC-CPLP) under the theme "The Role of the Civil Society Forum in Strengthening Partnerships for the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals".
The forum is the representative platform of civil society organizations of the member countries, created in 2011 in Brasilia, Brazil, with the aim to contribute to the promotion of the exchange of experiences between social organizations with emphasis on foundations, trade unions, professional associations and other organizations.
The first Meeting of the FSC-CPLP was held in September 2011, in Brasília, with the motto "Promoting social participation in the CPLP".
In 2015, the second edition took place in July, in Dili (East-Timor) under the theme "The economic value of the Common Identity of Civil Society of the CPLP".
