According to the Cabinet minister, who was speaking at a press conference without giving figures, in some municipalities of the Angolan capital, "an increase of cases of diarrhoea due to rotavirus infection has been registered.
Silvia Lutucuta said that a monitoring team had been set up to assess the epidemiological and laboratory level, thus ruling out the existence of a cholera outbreak.
This work, she said, ruled out the possibility of contamination by cholera, stressing that these were cases of diarrhoea due to rotavirus infection.
The Government official said it was necessary to look at the social determinants of public health, such as the supply of potable water and the improvement of basic sanitation.
She referred, on the other hand, to the fact that there are mothers who do not take their children for vaccination.
