Uíge - Ten thousand and seventy-five cases of malaria were diagnosed this year at the health center in the centrality of Quilomosso, in the municipality of the province of Uíge, in a total of 33,721 people tested at the health unit.
The data were released on Friday by the director of the local center, Albertina da Silva, when she took stock of the activities carried out by the health unit in the year 2023.
She explained that, this year, the health unit registered a considerable increase in malaria cases, compared to the previous period, in which 1,033 positive cases of the disease were diagnosed, out of the 22 thousand assists provided.
The center provides medical and drug assistance to the residents of the centrality of Quilomosso and the villages of Catalababanza, Gunga Cruz, Quilevo and others, serving daily between 90 and 100 patients with various pathologies, with a higher incidence of malaria and diarrheal and respiratory diseases.
She pointed out as a concern, the lack of ambulances for the transport of patients and the reduced number of technicians.
In turn, the municipal administrator of Uíge for the Political and Social Area, Eduardo Manuel, recognized the existence of some difficulties that condition the best care in the health unit, despite this, he defended the need for humanization of health services. NM/JAR/DOJ
