Menongue – Representatives of the civil society of the south-eastern Cuando Cubango Province appealed this Thursday to the Head of State for greater attention to the construction and maintenance of roads to link different municipalities.
At the end of the separate hearing with President João Lourenço, the United Methodist Church reverend Jacinta Esperança expressed her wishes to see improved the access roads, electricity and water supply to the population.
The bishop of the Menongue Diocese, Leopoldo Ndakalako, also appealed for better intervention in the communication means and poverty fight, having also encouraged the President to implement actions for the Integrated Plan of Interventions in the Municipalities (PIIM), aiming to have concrete results to satisfy people´s needs.
The Catholic bishop reaffirmed the partnership of the Church with the State in the domains of health, education and moralization of the society.
Meanwhile, the Menongue King Mweni Vunongue requested support for the reparation of the roads to interconnect the locations, aiming for easier disposal of goods.
António Bongo chairman of the Trade Chamber of Cuando Cubango expressed his concern related to the lack of public debt settlement that affects especially the development of the business sector.
The official did not advance the amounts but reiterated the commitment of the private sector to the development of the province.
The representative of the Provincial Youth Council, Miguel Tchissingue Américo, said he also presented his concern related to the condition of the roads, the unemployment rate and the need of housing programmes to satisfy the demand within the youth section.
On his turn, the minister of Territory Administration Marcy Lopes said that at the meeting with the President of the Republic it was presented several needs and ideas that might influence the development of the province.
Marcy Lopes highlighted that the main concerns will be considered in the scope of the general governance plan at medium and long terms.
