Lisbon - Angolan president João Lourenço arrived Thursday in Lisbon,Portugal, to participate in the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution.
Also known as the April 25th Revolution, it refers to an event in the history of Portugal resulting from the Armed Forces Movement, which occurred on this day in 1974, which deposed the dictatorial regime in force since 1933.
The Head of State, who is accompanied by the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, has been invited to this festive activity, where he will give a speech.
Program
The central event of Portugal's 50 years of freedom begins at Praça do Comércio (Commerce Square), between 9 am and 10 am, where there will be a traditional military ceremony commemorating the date led by the Portuguese President, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
Historical recreation of Operation End of the Regime will be carried out, with several military vehicles from the time arriving at Terreiro do Paço to parade.
The cars will be on display until 12pm at the place, together with the M47 Patton combat vehicle, which represents the military forces loyal to the government of Marcello Caetano. The ceremony includes many other activities.
