Lubango - The Portuguese Republic Saturday opened an honorary consulate in the city of Lubango, southern Huila province, to attend to Angolans with migratory needs in that European country and its community in Huila, set at over 6,000.
It is an extension of the Portuguese consulate in Benguela, but with autonomy to promote migratory acts.
At the time, the secretary of State for Portuguese communities, Berta Nunes, said that relations with Angola were good and that opening the consulate was a sign of strengthening cooperation.
The Portuguese ambassador to Angola, Pedro Pessoa e Costa, said that with this act Portugal wanted to signal Huíla province, which has notorious growth and, due to the number of Portuguese people in this region, the honorary consulate is justified.
