Malanje - Leaders of political parties with seats in parliament praised on Tuesday, in Malanje, the decisive role of the first President of Angola, Agostinho Neto, in resolving conflicts and bringing peace to Southern Africa, qualities that immortalized him as an “expedited” diplomat.
In a discussion on the occasion of September 17, National Hero’s Day, the politicians considered Neto an unforgettable figure, who from an early age marked the history of Angola and Africa in the fight against colonial rule, and whose legacy must be preserved by the youth.
For the first secretary of the MPLA in Malanje, Marcos Nhunga, the “Greatest Poet” was a strategic politician and an unusual personality in the African political arena, given his constant concern for the sovereignty of peoples and improving their living conditions.
“He left a significant legacy for the Angolan people and humanity in general, which ultimately resulted in Angola’s independence,” he emphasized.
In turn, the provincial secretary of the National Liberation Front of Angola (FNLA), Fernando Senduca Sebastião, reinforced Agostinho Neto's political and diplomatic contribution to the decolonization of the African continent and the laying of the foundations for its development.
The same view is shared by the secretary of the Social Renewal Party (PRS), Balduíno Daniel, who pointed out the continuous improvement of the population's living conditions as the best way to honor the figure of the Founder of the Nation, living up to his famous phrase that "the most important thing is to solve the people's problems".
On the other hand, he defended the continuous dissemination of his achievements, so that the new generation can be inspired by him.
Meanwhile, MPLA MP Ana José challenged the Angolan youth to reincarnate the spirit of the Founder of the Nation, assuming themselves as defenders of peace and national unity.
António Agostinho Neto was an Angolan doctor, writer and politician, born in 1922, in the village of Kaxixane, Icolo and Bengo.
He was President of the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola and in 1975 he became the first President of Angola until 1979, the date of his death. ACC/NC/PBC/TED/DOJ
