Luanda - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) on Friday said it will do everything it can to safeguard the lives of the Angolans living in Lebanon, most of whom are wives of Lebanese citizens, their children and direct dependents.
According to a press release sent to ANGOP, in view of the escalation of tension in the Middle East region, and the latest events in Lebanon, the MIREX said it has been monitoring the distressing situation of Angolan citizens living in that country.
To this end, it said, through the Angolan diplomatic mission in Cairo, Egypt, a regular channel of permanent communication with members of the diaspora in Lebanon has been established made up of around 50 families, spread across the towns of Beirut, Alai, Ras el Dekwaneh and Rahbeh.
Recently, Israeli troops launched air and ground attacks on Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon, causing thousands of casualties. FMA/VIC/TED/AMP
