Luanda – Angolan President João Lourenço Thursday regretted the death of his Tanzanian counterpart, John Pombe Magufuli, of disease on Wednesday.
In a message of condolences sent to the Tanzanian Vice-President, Samia Hassan Suhulu, João Lourenço says he learned with deep sorrow of the death of John Pombe Magufuli.
President João Lourenço conveys to the people and government of Tanzania, on behalf of the Angolan Executive and on his own, the deepest consternation, and his condolences to the bereaved family.
"In this painful hour for the Tanzanian Nation, in which the premature death of your leader places you against the challenge of continuing his work towards the progress and development of Tanzania, allow me to express my conviction that the national leaders will manage to overcome, with serenity, this hard moment, in a deserved homage to the ill-fated President John Mogufuli”
João Lourenço also says that the tragic and unexpected development leaves a void hard to cover at SADC level, where President Mogufuli, with his sagacity, pushed initiatives and ideas that boosted the institution and helped reinforce its catalysing role of developing the sub-region and Africa.
