Luanda - The governor of Luanda Province, Manuel Homem, Friday highlighted the efforts made by the Angolan government to fight corruption, as part of its vision for the country's social and economic improvement.
The official who was speaking in the opening of the public hearing session of the draft National Strategy of Prevention and Repression of Corruption (ENAPREC) 2023/2028, stressed that schools are crucial to raise awareness of men from an early age, for the reduction of the corruption rate.
For this purpose, he said that several actions are undertaken nationwide aiming to create a better environment in which the ENAPREC draft stands out.
He stated that the main objectives of the mentioned project are to promote integrity and transparency in the management of the treasury, to improve service delivery in all sectors, and to involve citizens in the prevention and suppression of corruption, also stressing the recognition of the need to reduce the impact of corruption, valuing good governance and accountability, as well as the economic and social development of the country as part of the strategy mission.
As for the vision, Manuel Homem stressed that the project should become a reference instrument in the prevention, detection, and repression of corruption and related criminality, with a view to strengthening citizens´ confidence in public institutions.
He pointed out that the project´s structuring values are legality, uprightness, respect for public property, impartiality, pursuitof public interest, responsibility, accountability, and transparency.
ENAPREC was released by the Attorney General's Office (PGR) in coordination with the General Inspectorate of State Administration (IGAE) and the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.
The draft was drawn by the Technical Group, created by Presidential Dispatch 176/19, of October 21, in charge of conducting studies and developing proposals and mechanisms for the implementation of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC).
