Luanda – Angola´s ambassador to Spain, José Luís de Matos, has appealed to Angolans to defend democracy and the conquests achieved, with a view to the country's growth and progress.
The diplomat made the appeal, Friday in Spain, during the celebrations of the 47th anniversary of National Independence, an act that brought together the Angolan community living in that European country.
To José Luís de Matos, the conquest of independence was possible with the selfless effort and patriotic sense of Angolans.
“We need to work for the promotion of solidarity, social equity and peace”, added the ambassador.
Agostinho Neto´s Bust in African Union (AU) Peace Council headquarters
Still in the framework of the 11th of November commemoration, Angola's National Independence Day, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the secretary of State for Territory Administration, Teresa Quivienguele, unveiled a bust of the first President of Angola, Agostinho Neto, in the headquarters of the Peace Council of the African Union (AU).
In the sequence, the bibliographical and audiovisual material from the António Foundation Agostinho Neto was offered to the library of the African Union (AU) Peace Council, and was witnessed by the ambassador of Angola to Ethiopia, Francisco da Cruz.
Still on the sidelines of Angola’s Independence Day celebrations, also in Ethiopia, the vice-president of the Executive Council of the Angola Centre for Strategic Studies (CEEA), Manuel Correia de Barros, gave a lecture on the thought and role of Agostinho Neto in the fight for the liberation of the African continent.
