Huambo - UNITA party reiterated Thursday in central Huambo province its intention to implement the local elections in 2023, if it wins the 24 August elections.
The party candidate for President of Republic, Adalberto Costa Júnior, underlined the need to promote greater de-concentration and de-centralisation of public administration.
In his speech, in which stressed the importance of the local elections, the politician underlined the need to give competency to the citizen through regular monitoring of the public accounts.
Another proposal of UNITA´s project is to review the current Constitution of the Republic of Angola, of which, among other points, the introduction of a system that allow a separate election of the Head of State and the members of Parliament.
As part of State reform, Adalberto Costa Júnior, also mentioned the institutionalisation of an electoral court with specific power to provide greater transparency smoothness to electoral processes.
Among other provinces, UNITA leader has presented the party electoral manifesto in Huambo, after Benguela, Huíla and Cunene.
It will be the fifth time that Angolans go to the polls since 1992.
