Cuito – At least two observers of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) are in Cuito city, Bié Province, to monitor Wednesday's voting.
The observers, from the Republics of Malawi and Namibia, were received Sunday afternoon by the governor of Bié Province, Pereira Alfredo.
Malawian Paulo Lubiya, said they are in Angola, particularly in Bié, to collaborate for the success of the general elections, adding that the SADC has always put peace and stability in the region on the top and that Angola is on the right path in this matter.
The Bie governor assured that conditions have been created throughout the province to ensure that eligible voters over the nine municipalities and 32 communes of the region cast ballots.
To monitor the fifth general elections in Angola, SADC has provided 50 observers, who are divided into 15 groups.
Bié Province has registered 783,684 voters, who will exercise their right to vote in 861 polling stations.
Roughly 14.3 voters are expected to cast ballots on August 24 with 22,560 from abroad to choose the President of the Republic, the Vice President and the 220 deputies that constitute the National Assembly.
