Luanda – Some 1, 662 Angolans residing in Brazil are registered for the August 24 election, according to official data reached ANGOP.
Among the citizens eligible to exercise the right to vote in Brazil, 1181 are in São Paulo, 311 in Rio de Janeiro and 170 in Brasilia.
Polling stations were set up in the premises of the Embassy in Brasilia and in the Consulates General in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
According to the Angolan ambassador to Brazil, Florêncio de Almeida, the conditions have been created for Angolans to vote, for the first time, on August 24.
“Voting in the diaspora is a new exercise. It is a learning process that allows us to verify and learn from it so that, in the next elections, the organisation can be improved and that many more citizens can exercise their duty of citizenship,” he said.
