Menongue - UNITA's political commission secretary for the southern region, Celso Torres, promised Sunday in Menongue City, south-eastern Cuando Cubango Province, the construction of inter-municipal roads and employment for the youth, should his party win the August 24 elections.
Celso Torres, who made the statement during a mass rally in the outskirts of Menongue City, said the construction of roads will enable to take better advantage of agricultural production and facilitate the transportation of products.
The politician added that UNITA intends to transform the province into a “true land of progress”, highlighting the richness of the arable land, water and mineral resources, factors that can be used to provide employment.
Torres said that his party has a "historic and honourable" mission, whose fulfillment depends on the vote, having urged supporters to vote and to invite others to do the same.
UNITA is one of eight contestants in the August 24 general elections, along with the MPLA, PRS, FNLA, APN, PHA and P-NJANGO parties, and the CASA-CE coalition.
