Huambo - The commander-general of the National Police, commissioner-general Arnaldo Manuel Carlos, this Saturday called on the population to refrain from practices or acts that promote public disorder before, during and after the general elections, set for next August 24.
"The country is going through a special moment full of emotions, with the approaching of general elections, scheduled for August 24, hence the need for the population to avoid getting involved in acts that may create insecurity in the communities," he added.
The police chief was speaking at the closing ceremony of the 20th basic course on public order police for personnel made available by the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), held in Huambo province and marked with the launch of the local Response and Patrol Unit.
The senior member of the National Police said that citizens should step up their denunciations of all acts that harm the Angolan state in its various aspects and that are likely to create a feeling of insecurity in communities.
According to the commander, "public safety is not made only with men in uniform and armed, but with the involvement of all citizens, in the light of their duties and attributions.
Nevertheless, he added, the National Police continues with its mission to guarantee the order and public tranquillity, besides other legally established missions, counting on the contribution of all so that the security policies have the desired success.
