Rivungo - The 2nd commander of the Border Guard Police (PGF), Commissioner José Estêvão Mingas on Monday called for greater attention on the eastern border between the municipality of Rivungo, in Cuando Cubango province, and Zambia, with the aim of reducing the constant theft of cattle.
The commander called for increased security between the two borders linking Angola, from Rivungo, and the municipality of Shangombo, in Zambia, during the presentation of the new municipal commander of the 11th Border Guard Police Unit, Domingos Salvador Rafael.
According to José Estêvão Mingas, the new commander of the Rivungo municipality, takes on his new responsibilities at a very challenging time, given that Rivungo is an area where cases of cattle theft, poaching and various types of smuggling occur.
Domingos Salvador Rafael on his turn promised to work hard to ensure border security and stressed the importance of collaboration with other institutions and the need to remain ready to face any challenge that may arise.
Cuando Cubango, Angola's second largest province with 199,049 square meters, not only shares a river border with Zambia on the eastern strip, but also has a river and land connection with Namibia. ALK/FF/PLB/TED/AMP
