Luanda – Angolan president João Lourenço left Wednesday for Lisbon, Portugal, to take part in the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution to take place on April 25.
At 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, the Head of State, accompanied by the First Lady Ana Dias Lourenço, received farewell greetings from the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, among other personalities present.
João Lourenço was invited to this festive event, as were the presidents of other countries whose historical process included the Salazar dictatorship.
Also known as the April 25 Revolution, it refers to an event in Portugal's history resulting from the Armed Forces Movement, which took place on this day in 1974 and ousted the dictatorial regime that had been in place since 1933. VIC/TED/AMP
