Luanda- The outgoing President of the Republic, João Lourenço, urged on Wednesday, in Luanda, all Angolans to flock to the polling stations to exercise their citizenship right.
João Lourenço, who is also the MPLA´s candidate for his own succession to the presidency of Angola, made the appeal after voting in the municipality of Ingombota, in the country´s capital.
“We have just exercised our right to vote, it was quick and simple. We advise all voting citizens to do the same, and in the end we’ll all win, for the good of democracy”, said Mr Lourenço in a brief statement to the press.
For today´s general elections, roughly 14.3 million voters are expected to cast ballots.
The political forces participating are MPLA, UNITA, PRS, FNLA, APN, PHA, P-NJANGO and CASA-CE electoral coalition.
This is the country’s fifth suffrage.
