Luanda – The government of Angola and the Republic of Vietnam are interested in giving new impetus to their bilateral relations by boosting cooperation mechanisms in the fields of agriculture, trade and economy.
The information was released on Wednesday, in Luanda Province, by the Vietnamese Minister of Education and Training, Nguyen Kim Son, at the end of a meeting granted to him by the First Vice-President of the National Assembly, Américo Cunonoca.
According to the Vietnamese leader, in addition to the traditional areas of cooperation, the two states intend to give a new impetus in the areas of agriculture, trade and the economy.
He said that the two states are working on implementing the agreements signed during the 7th Meeting of the Bilateral Joint Commission, adding that they also want to promote and reinforce cooperation relations in the parliamentary field.
As far as diplomatic relations are concerned, Angola and Vietnam established them in November 1975.
In 1978, Angola and Vietnam signed the General Cooperation Agreement, an instrument that served as the basis for the opening of various protocols in the social, economic and technical and scientific fields.
Traditionally, relations between the two countries have been based in the fields of agriculture, health, education and trade. Due to that there are around 20 private Vietnamese companies working in Angola.
Located in Southeast Asia, Vietnam's economy is centred on the electronics, industrial and agribusiness sectors.
