Luanda - The deepening of relations between Angola and Ukraine was under analysis, on Tuesday afternoon, Oct 15, during a telephone conversation between the Angolan minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, and his Ukrainian counterpart, Andril Sybiha.
According to a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex) to which ANGOP had access, the dialogue between the two heads of diplomacy focused on increasing bilateral relations in the most different areas of political, diplomatic, economic and commercial life, in addition to the need to exchange visits between official delegations from both countries.
The new minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, who replaced Dmytro Kuleba from his position, is 49 years old, is a career diplomat and has previously served as Deputy Minister in this same ministerial department.
Diplomatic relations between Angola and Ukraine have been limited, reflecting both Angola's history and the geopolitical interests of both countries.
The two nations established diplomatic relations back in 1994, shortly after Ukraine gained independence with the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
Trade between the two countries has been shy, focusing mainly on sectors such as machinery, equipment, agricultural products and natural resources.
Ukraine is a country in Eastern Europe that borders Russia to the East and Northeast, Belarus to the Northwest, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary to the West, Romania and Moldova to the Southwest, and the Black Sea and Sea of Azov to the South and Southeast, respectively.
The country has a territory that covers an area of 603,628 square kilometers.
