Luanda – Outgoing ambassador of the United Kingdom Jessica Hand announced Wednesday in Luanda the expansion of cooperation with Angola to the mining, energy and renewable technologies sectors
After presenting farewell greetings to the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, the diplomat told the press that there has been progress in trade relations between Angola and the United Kingdom.
She stressed that such advances are essential, above all, "for the development, success and prosperity of Angola".
Jessica Hand defended the need for a “much closer” dialogue between the authorities of the two countries to define priorities in bilateral cooperation.
The two countries have a strong economic partnership, especially in the oil sector, an area in which British Petroleum (BP) is one of the largest foreign investors in Angola, with over US$30 billion invested by the end of 2018.
Operator of blocks 18 and 31, BP achieved, in 2019, a total net production of 115,000 barrels of oil/day.
In March 2009, the British government reopened its credit line for exports with Angola, worth up to US$70 million, for entirely private investments.
In the context of the diversification of Angola's economy, the United Kingdom presents itself as a potential partner in the sectors of agriculture, energy, infrastructure, health and financial services.
United Kingdom comprises England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
