Luanda - Angola implements legal and administrative measures that ensure effective compliance with the United Nations Convention Against Corruption and the improvement of development indicators that directly impact the well-being of Angolans.
According to a press release, the information was presented this Thursday in Vienna, Austria, by the Secretary of the President of the Republic for Judicial and Legal Affairs, Edilson Agostinho, who is participating in the 15th Session of the Implementation Review Group of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, which has been taking place since Monday.
At the event, as part of the tasks of the Working Group in Charge of Carrying Out Studies and Drafting Proposals and Mechanisms for the Implementation of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, Angola also highlighted the recent approval, by the Executive, of the National Strategy for the Prevention and Repression of Corruption (ENAPREC).
This document introduces a new dynamic in the national system for preventing and combating this phenomenon and in the process of creating a legal framework for beneficial owners.
During the working days, the Angolan delegation participates in several sessions on topics related to the performance of the Mechanism for the Review of the Implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, asset recovery, beneficial ownership, exchange of information, practices and experiences acquired by the States Parties to the Convention, among others.
The 15th Session of the Implementation Review Group of the United Nations Convention against Corruption is a platform for the exchange of information between the law enforcement agencies against corruption of member countries, which provides knowledge, resources and tools necessary to define policies and decision-making structures in the context of the fight against corruption.
This year, the event, which ends this Friday, brings together representatives of some 125 Member States of the United Nations Convention against Corruption, intergovernmental organizations, funds, systems, specialized agencies of the United Nations and international organizations.
The Angolan delegation includes the Secretary of State for Justice, the Director-General of the Financial Intelligence Unit and national experts in the field of anti-corruption assigned to various institutions. VIC/DOJ
