The President of the United States, Joe Biden, celebrated the country’s progress in vaccination against covid-19, during a speech to students in the city of Alexandria, in the State of Virginia. “Across the country, we have moved from the pain and stagnation of a long winter to an economy in motion, growing faster than in the past nearly 40 years,” said Biden, crediting the economic acceleration to the immunization programme.
According to him, since taking over the White House, the daily average of cases against the covid-19 has decreased 93%, from about 180 thousand to 2,8 thousand in the last weekend.
He also pointed out that 10 US states have already reached the goal of vaccinating at least 70% of the population with two doses.
The Biden administration’s goal is to achieve the same rate of immunizations nationwide by July 4, the day that American Independence is celebrated.
