Luanda - The State Minister for Social Affairs, Carolina Cerqueira, Monday stressed the need for the active participation of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) in the 2nd Luanda Biennial Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace to be held next September in Luanda.
According to the State minister, who was speaking during an audience granted to the president of the ECCAS, Gilberto Veríssimo, the partnership between the event's organisation and the regional organisation is essential in view of the objectives outlined: the promotion of a culture of peace, brotherhood, unity among peoples, preservation and dissemination of Africa's material and immaterial heritage.
"Peace, intergenerational dialogue, conflict resolution, national reconciliation and crisis resilience will be on the agenda of the second edition of the Biennial Peace Conference," said Carolina Cerqueira.
In his turn, the president of the ECCAS commission, Gilberto Veríssimo, expressed the organization's willingness to participate in the event, and I advocate holding it on a permanent basis.
Gilberto Veríssimo said that the ECCAS would link Angola with other regional organisations for greater inclusion of African countries.
He said that the ECCAS aimed for the Angolan capital (Luanda) to become the biggest promotion point for the culture of peace on the African continent.
In its conception, the Luanda Biennial aims to develop a Pan African Movement for a Culture of Peace and Nonviolence, through the establishment of partnerships involving, among others, governments, civil society, the artistic and scientific community, the private sector and international organisations.
