Luanda – The 13th edition of the International Jazz Festival 2024 to be held in Luanda Province on April 30 to May 1 is expected to bring together more than 700 participants, the spokesperson of the event, Neto Júnior has said.
According to Junior, the event to run under the motto “Dawn in the World: Together for Inclusive Growth, Educating through Art”, will include public and private figures linked to national and international culture and art.
He said the festival would feature 34 renowned international artists from the United States of America, France, Israel, Portugal, Italy, Brazil, Gambia and Russia, who will be performing with the Angolan artists.
"This is an initiative that brings together musicians from different geographical and cultural origins, for a fusion of Afro-Brazilian, Middle Eastern, Balkan and Arabic sounds to express the richness of music that goes beyond borders, connecting citizens from all over the world," Junior said.
As part of the Luanda Biennial, the 13th edition of this festival aims to commemorate the festivities of the musical style, which is celebrated worldwide on April 30 to promote a culture of peace, inspire current and future generations through messages of peace, hope and social progress which will be transmitted by the artists.
The day of the Jazz International Festival is promoted by the Angola ResiliArt Project emerging from the partnership between the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the American Schools of Angola (ASA) and the government of Angola in the scope of the Luanda Biennial - Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace and Non-Violence.
