Luanda - The minister of Culture and Tourism, Filipe Zau, expressed this Friday his consternation at the death of Angolan nationalist Adelino Augusto Torres Guimarães.
The nationalist passed away in Lisbon, aged 84, due to illness, last Tuesday (5).
In a note of condolences sent to ANGOP, Filipe Zau addresses his feelings of condolence to the bereaved family.
Adelino Torres, a retired academic, was a professor at the Higher Institute of Economics and Management of the University of Lisbon, a visiting professor at the University of Rennes and a member of the International Academy of Portuguese Culture.
As a nationalist, in exile in Algiers, from 1963 onwards, he carried out his political activity and defended Angola's right to independence.
During his lifetime, he edited several academic and literary titles.
