Luanda – The National Culture Festival (Fenacult 2022), which is special this year for celebrating the centenary of the first president of Angola, Antonio Agostinho Neto, will be marked by the re-edition of the books Sagrada Esperança (Sacred Hope) and Renúncia Impossível (Impossible Renunciation), plus a literary contest, ANGOP has learnt.
The programme reserves a conference on Agostinho Neto’s vision regarding the training of Angolan cadres and the paper of the Agostinho Neto University (UAN) in the training of higher education students.
The celebration programme will include an academic contest, academic day on the multiple dimensions of the figure of Dr. Antonio Agostinho and the role he played in the liberation of the Southern African region, as well as friendly football matches and an ecumenical religious service.
The anniversary of the founder of the Nation, António Agostinho Neto, is marked on September 17, the organizers intends to award some decorations to honour the centenary.
Antonio Agostinho Neto was born on September 17, 1922, in Kaxicane, Icolo e Bengo Municipality, and died on September 10, 1979.
As Angola's first president, he proclaimed the country's independence from the then Portuguese colonial regime on November 11, 1975.
He is a reference of the national culture, having written several books translated into various languages, with emphasis on "Four Poems of Agostinho Neto", in 1957, "Sacred Hope" (1974) and "The Impossible Renunciation" (1982).
