Huambo - The Angolan Youth Literature Brigade (BJLA) Wednesday called on Huambo government for the creation of a printing plant, with the aim to stimulate the production of literary works, ANGOP has learned.
The request was made during the opening ceremony of the commemorative days of the World Poetry Day, to be held on March 21 under the holding of a provincial festival of this segment of Angolan culture.
According to the head of the Youth Literature Brigade in Huambo, Afonso Cachequele Lenguesa, the creation of the printing park may influence the installation of publishing houses in the province, which, in turn, should, in a first stage, be exempt from tax emoluments.
"We ask the provincial government to take a look at this situation, since Huambo has been struggling with the lack of publishing houses for several years, hence the low publication of local literary works," he said.
Afonso Cachequele also defended the institutionalization of the Poetry Prize and the regular promotion of literature contests, as way to discover new talents in these areas and to encourage the love for reading.
In his turn, the director of the Provincial Office of Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports of Huambo, Jeremias da Piedade Chissanga,
highlighted the importance of poetry as an element of national culture, recreation and as a driver of patriotism.
