Caxito - The Miss Bengo Committee annulled Thursday, the contest that elected Edvânia Soares as the province’s representative at Miss Angola competition.
In a statement signed by the head of the committee, Ozias Gunza, the Miss Bengo Committee said it decided to annul the contest after deep thinking over the issue, having apologized for any embarrassment.
The contest held on March 10 elected Edvânia Soares as Miss Bengo, however, the young woman holds the title of Miss Viana 2020 (Luanda province), a situation that led the Provincial Office of Culture to request the annulment of the contest.
Jânia da Silva, who was further elected to represent Bengo province, holds the title of (Miss Cacuaco), which prevents her from representing the province, since Cacuaco is Luanda’s municipality.
In a note, the Provincial Office of Culture explains that after consulting the Miss Angola Committee, as the organizer of the activity at the national level, it was concluded that the awarding of the title is not in accordance with the Statutes and Regulation, a factor that makes it impossible to represent Bengo in the national contest.
