Cuito - Teachers may go on strike within 60 days if the Ministry of Education fails to respond, in a satisfactory manner, to the issues in the demands list, already in its possession, since 2018.
This decision is part of the conclusions of the II Ordinary Meeting of the National Council of the Teachers Union (SINPROP), which ended today in Cuito city, central Bié province.
Amongst the claims, the teachers demanded the valuing of work time.
According to the spokesman for the meeting, Admar Ginguma, everything will depend on the Government's will.
On the first day of work (Thursday), the chairperson of SINPROF, Guilherme Silva, said that they remain open to dialogue with government entities, in order to overcome the problems of its members, as well as to find solutions aimed at improving the conditions of school institutions.
According to the trade unionist, this dialogue does not prevent the resorting to strike action, which is a legal imperative, in order to pressure the State to solve the issues as soon as possible.
Therefore, and to avoid a possible strike, he asked the Government to urgently introduce the time of service in Education and other allowances inherent to the valorisation of teachers that are already part of the 2018 demands list.
