Luanda - The Ministry of Education (MED) announced, this Monday, the conclusion of the process of revising the contents of schoolbooks for pre-school, primary school, and the 2nd cycle (from 10th grade) of secondary education.
The review, according to the minister of Education, Luísa Grilo, covered in a profound way changes in the contents of the history, portuguese language, mathematics, visual and plastic education of pre-school and primary education.
Minister of State for Social Affairs , Carolina Cerqueira, who was speaking to the press at the end of a meeting of the Multi-sectoral Commission to Update and Correct Schoolbooks for the 1st and 2nd Cycles, said that the contents reflect the historical-cultural reality and environmental impact of the country, as well as patriotic exaltation and the values of Angola.
During the process, initiated in 2020, the technical group proceeded to sort the thematic contents and proposed to update them, according to the historical, geographical and natural sciences context.
The work also included the evaluation and revision of the curricular programs of the different levels of pre-school and general education, said Luísa Grilo, adding that the pre-school and primary education manuals are in a position to go to the printers for their production.
The correction and updating of General Education schoolbooks aims to promote and improve the country’s teaching and learning process.
Regarding the academic year 2020, the minister stressed that despite the constraints caused by the Covid-19 pendulum, it was possible to reach the minimum of the revised calendar.
Minister of Education, Luísa Grilo also cherishes the hope of better days in the teaching and learning process, stating that actions are underway to provide schools with better conditions for biosafety and hygiene for the next academic year, starting in September.
