Cacuaco – More than 2,000 private schools, at different educatioan levels, are currently operating without proper licensing, the director of the Provincial Office of Education, Philomene José Carlos, said Monday.
According to the director, who met with managers and promoters of private education in Cacuaco, more than 2,000 institutions without licensing were detected in the Angolan capital.
She said that of the schools inspected, only 284 are licensed.
According to the official, Cacuaco, Viana, Talatona and Belas are the municipalities with the highest number of unlicensed private institutions.
Philomene Carlos emphasized that it is not the objective of the State to close these institutions, but to license them to promote quality education, which will be possible with the fulfillment of legal instruments at the level of education.
She informed that for teaching in the area of health, tolerance should be "zero".
For her, schools for training in the area of health should be those that have appropriate conditions, since training in this specialty is delicate.
As for intensive health courses, she warned that these will not be recognized, as the law does not determine these courses, so these schools are illegal.
She appealed to parents and guardians to always find out if the school is licensed, otherwise their children's dreams can be drowned.
On the occasion, the director of Education in Cacuaco, Mateus Dala, said that the meeting will facilitate the regularization of the 345 private schools at various levels of education in the municipality, as 92 of which are licensed.
The meeting aimed to guide and provide pedagogical support to the promoters of private institutions.
The municipality is composed of the urban districts of Cacuaco, Kicolo, Mulenvos de Baixo and Sequele, and the commune of Funda.
It has an estimated population of 1,237,477 inhabitants and a land area of 571 square kilometres.
