Benguela - The re-launch of tourism as one of the ways of economic diversification in Angola is the highlight of the last day of the meeting of the second Consultative Council of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Environment (MCTA), which is taking place in coastal Benguela province.
During the meeting, which is being chaired by the incumbent of Ministerial Department, Filipe Zau, the counselors are discussing in a panel the challenges and opportunities in the context of tourism.
The participants are also analyzing the challenges of Angola's accession to the African Free Trade Area and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
The event includes a panel with topics in the field of the environment, such as the strategy and definition of work methodology for licensing and decentralisation, on the one hand, and, on the other hand, the sanitation strategy, participation in the implementation of projects, institutional support and financial.
The participants, who include the Secretaries of State for Culture Maria da Piedade de Jesus, for the Environment Paula Francisco Coelho, and for Tourism Hélder Jonas Marcelino, will address other issues on today's agenda, like the Circular Economy, production and consumption for sustainability.
The first day's agenda was dominated by culture, that is, the challenges of classifying and managing cultural goods, the strategy for implementing cultural and creative industries, as well as the national museum network: strategies for improving its services .
In this regard, the minister of Culture, Tourism and Environment said that the strategic actions of the dynamics of culture, tourism and environment should constitute the focus and strength of the Advisory Council's debates, "under the motto "Culture, Tourism and Environment". – in the Emergence of a Circular Economy”.
Reiterating the Government's commitment to tourism as the greatest source of diversification of the economy, Filipe Zau appeals to the need to guarantee the starting prerequisites for national and foreign businessmen to invest, in order to ensure job opportunity for the young people.
At the moment, as he stressed, the growth of the world tourism market offers countless opportunities for developed and developing countries like Angola.
Therefore, he defended that the country should take advantage of and develop its potential and comparative advantages in terms of added value, which can generate added value and a privileged position as a widely sought after tourist destination.
In the field of the environment, he highlighted that the Ministry's vision is focused on all aspects, especially sustainability towards circularity.
