Dundo - The “Citizen's Budget” for the execution of several social projects in the province of Lunda-Norte is valued at 84 billion kwanzas, ANGOP learned on Friday, in the city of Dundo.

An initiative of the Ministry of Finance in partnership with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the “Citizen Budget” is an emanation of the General State Budget (OCE), in a more summarized and literacy perspective on this instrument that, with the force of Law, establishes the revenue forecast and authorizes Government spending during the calendar year.

In 2023, the program prioritized investment in the diversification of the economy, boosting private investment, stimulating liquidity in companies and defending consumption and protecting vulnerable families.

During the presentation of the project and the budget perspective for Lunda-Norte, this Friday, Ary Pessela, technician from the Finance Delegation, said that the expected amount will be executed by the budgeted institutions of the State's Local Administration.

Among the actions to be carried out, according to financial availability, the specialist highlighted the implementation, this year, of reception and assisted centers in the municipalities of Chitato, Cuilo, Cuango and Lucapa, as well as the completion of the Elderly Home, within the scope of the social protection program.

He stated that the initiative aims to support vulnerable families, victims of natural disasters and elderly people who, for some reason, are expelled from the family.

Within the scope of the Integrated Program for Local Development and Combating Poverty, the improvement of third roads, the construction of water holes, schools, health units, as well as the distribution of school meals and support for the promotion of family farming are expected, according to the source.

In relation to the Public Investment Program (PIP), it continued, depending on the availability of financial resources, the construction of new maternal and child hospitals in the municipalities of Cambulo, Capenda Camulemba and Cuilo, as well as the rehabilitation of 150 kilometers of road on the Caungula/Nzovu section and the completion of the school for people with special needs, in Dundo.

He said that the planned actions also include the rehabilitation and expansion of the water collection and distribution system in Cuango, the supply of this liquid in Cuango, the reconstruction of a II Cycle school in Lóvua, on the Lubalo/Muvulegi section, with an extension of 90 kilometers, the completion of works on the Lucapa District Court and the construction of a 10-classroom school in Xá Muteba.
