Lubango - The Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, António Francisco de Assis, Saturday in Lubango encouraged livestock businesspeople to develop projects to implement industrial slaughterhouses, as they will ensure higher quality meat produced in the country.
The government official, who was speaking on the sidelines of the 2nd Forum of Livestock Cooperatives in Angola, said it was possible to have slaughterhouses, by drawing up a project and within the support systems for business activity to obtain funding to set up the structure, as there was a credit guarantee fund that could support part of that credit.
He stated that businesspeople have to decide if having a slaughterhouse is viable or not, as in the current context of governance in Angola it is no longer possible for the Ministry to build slaughterhouses.
