Wholesale Price Index increases 2.65 pct in September

Luanda – Wholesale price inflation increased 2.65 percent in September, with imported products contributing the most with 1.97 percent (74 percent) and domestic products with 0.68 percent (26 percent) of the overall inflation figure, data from the National Statistics Institute (INE) has shown.

INE indicates that inflation of national products in September 2023 was 2.55 percent with Section D - Manufacturing Industry contributing the most to the price variation of national products with 1.50 percent.

The products that contributed the most were soda with 0.70 percent, beer 0.43 percent, wheat flour 0.04 percent, beef and wine 0.02 percent, frozen horse mackerel, soya oil and powdered milk 0.01 percent each, among the main ones.

INE adds that the inflation of imported products in September 2023 was 2.68 percent with Section D - Manufacturing Industry contributing the most to the price variation of imported products with 2.55 percent.

It explains that the products that contributed the most were sugar 0.67 percent, pork 0.44 percent, frozen chicken 0.23 percent, rice 0.16 percent, soya oil 0.11percent and wheat flour 0.10 percent.

Data show that the year-on-year change in the Wholesale Price Index (IPG) from September 2022 to 2023 was of 19.55 percent, 3.15 down in relation to the same period last year.

It adds that from August to September 2023, the IPG recorded a monthly variation of 2.65%, 0.38 percent higher than the previous period and 1.51% higher than the same month in 2022.
