Luanda - Angola is banning the production, import and sale of alcoholic beverages packaged in small plastic sachets, as early as possible, the minister of Industry and Commerce Victor Fernandes told press Friday in Luanda.
The measure covers industries in the national territory, in this segment, importers and traders, who will have a moratorium period defined in the decree to be made public, to allow withdrawal of these packages from the market.
Angola’s health authorities have been reporting that such alcoholic beverages, sold at about 0.08 (eight cents) of us dollar, are directly related to many illnesses and deaths among youth across the country because of its easy access and low price. OPF/ART/DOJ
