Government plans to privatise over 100 companies this year

Luanda - The Angolan government plans to privatise at least 113 companies, including Banco de Comércio e Indústria (BCI), the Secretary of State for Finance and Treasury, Ottoniel Santos said Tuesday in Luanda.

Ottoniel Santos, who was speaking to the press at the end of the meeting of the National Inter-ministerial Commission of the 2019-2022 Privatisation Programme (PROPRIV) said that in the first quarter, 40 companies would be privatised; in the second quarter, 60, and in the third quarter (13).

In that programme, the PROPIV coordinator said, particular aspects of companies such as Biocom, Mult-tel, TV Cabo, were analysed in some depth, all of which could guide the next actions of the technical group.

On this occasion, the proposal of privatisation of the companies of the Zahara group was also analysed, whose strategy was approved through a modality for each of the units and which will also be part of the priority range of the technical group.

The commission also approved, according to the Secretary of State, the "draft" of the Presidential Decree that approves the incorporation of five assets in the privatisation programme, which were recovered by the State and that will pass to the private sphere in order to maintain their market value and stimulate the national economy.
