Ndalatando - The provincial governor of the northern Cuanza-Norte Province, João Diogo Gaspar, has called for the urgent rehabilitation of communication routes in the municipalities of Banga, Bologongo and Quiculungo, to allow agricultural production to flow.

The government official who was speaking to the press on Friday at the end of a tour of the municipalities of Banga, Bologongo and Quiculungo, pointed out that the rehabilitation of the roads will boost the economy of these potentially agricultural localities.

To him, despite the fact that the government already plans to rehabilitate these roads, urgent intervention is needed so that the population can transport products from the countryside to the cities.

He also defended the need for clear policies to develop agriculture, including working to attract private investment to the sector, taking into account the potential of the three municipalities.

He also pointed to the organisation of the population into associations in order to better allocate funding and meet their needs.

João Diogo Gaspar also pointed to better organisation of the Integrated Programme for Local Development and Combating Poverty and allocating part of the resources to farming families.

For the government official, if farming families are empowered, they will produce more for domestic consumption and export.

He pointed out that the three municipalities are also facing problems in the areas of health, education, electricity and drinking water supply.

He pointed out that the issue of education had been overcome with the admission of more than 3,000 young people in a public competition, which will be distributed to all the municipalities in the province.

With regard to the health sector, he said there was a need to build more health units, as well as more work to prevent malaria, the main disease in the three regions, defending the creation of policies to make the primary health network work.

He also revealed that another concern in the three municipalities, has to do with the public transport network, which is inoperative, but the provincial government is going to launch a public tender for the management of 14 buses.

The provincial governor requested businesspeople from the three municipalities to take part in this tender in order to meet the population's mobility needs.

João Diogo Gaspar visited the three municipalities to find out about the reality of these districts. The visit also served to introduce him to the population.
