Huambo – Security Forces stopped this Friday, in the neighborhood of Chiva, on the outskirts of the city of Huambo, the proliferation of cryptocurrency mining, led by two citizens of Chinese nationality, ANGOP has learned.

In a statement to the press, the spokesperson for the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) in the province of Huambo, sub-inspector Abel Kangombe, said that those allegedly involved in the production of cryptocurrencies have been carrying out these illicit acts since last year in camouflaged infrastructures.

He explained that virtual currencies were produced in workshops, party solutions and milling industries, with greater levels of invisibility and difficult access to recognition of cryptocurrency mining production places, the act of which was caught by the Security Forces.

Abel Kangombe said that cryptocurrency mining production worked with five Electric Energy Transformation Stations (PT), with an estimated capacity of two thousand Kaviars (KVA) each, which supported four equipped ships with electronic means and computing.

He reported that the culprits have already destroyed more than ten thousand computers to track down data and information on virtual transfers outside the control of banking establishments in legal proceedings.

He explained that the electrical energy processed came from the Chiva substation, an extension of 300 meters from the cryptocurrency mining production site, that after the virtual transfers of monetary values, the computers were completely destroyed leading to the disappearance of decisive data for the investigation.

He made it known that the owner of the rented infrastructure was given contrary information about the project, where negotiations had included a program to install signal repeater antennas from the operator “Africell” and a milling industry, to promote social and aconomic development.

Therefore, the SIC spokesperson appealed to the population to continue reporting, to combat, without respite, any criminal situation.

The operation, without any arrests, continues in the investigation process to investigate and clarify the “modi oparandis” of this act, which constitutes the first case in the history of the province of Huambo.

Cryptocurrencies are digital financial values that normally lack the control of any Government.
