Luanda – The exhibition of paintings and photographs on the daily activity of the mining sector presented on Monday in Luanda portrays the essence of the Angolan mining and oil sector and the importance of the extractive industry in the national economy.

The remarks were made by the Secretary of State for Mineral Resources, Jânio Correia Victor at the inauguration of the artistic exhibition named “Symbiosis”, as part of the celebrations of the Mineworker Day to be marked on April 27.

Pedro Yaba, author of the exhibition, said the works aims to pay tribute to the Angolan mining sector taking into account the strategic importance and the vitality for Angola's progress and development.

According to him, the harmonious combination of the 13 paintings and 200 photographs on display represents an artistic symbiosis that is "unusual in the fine arts".

The artwork is on display at the premises of the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas until April 27.

Pedro Rosário Yaba, graduated in Fine Arts, was born in Luanda, where he began his artistic career in 1988.

His works have been exhibited in countries such as Sweden, the United States and Italy, where he won the Michelangelo prize in Rome in 2015.
