Saurimo - The ambassador of the United States of America to Angola, Tulinabo Mushingi, on Tuesday in Saurimo, eastern Lunda-Sul Province, highlighted the construction of photovoltaic power stations underway in the country as an asset for the social and economic well-being of the Angolan population.

Speaking during the inauguration of the Saurimo Photovoltaic Plant, the diplomat pointed to the transfer of technology by American companies, the creation of jobs and the use of local content as factors that have contributed to the development of clean energies.

On the other hand, the ambassador reiterated that the US government would continue to support Angola on issues related to the fight against corruption and the promotion of transparency being carried out by the Angolan government.

Regarding cooperation, he said that when work is done together with other partners, such as the Angolan government, foreigners and private individuals, one can achieve some benefits for the people of each region, which is why it is necessary to continue working together.

In turn, the representative of the Portuguese Embassy in Angola, Ana Maneira, said that the construction of the photovoltaic plant would bring clean energy to the municipality of Saurimo for more than 171,000 families, as well as providing comfort and creating jobs, among other aspects.

She also emphasised the strengthening of the fight against climate change, with energy diversification, contributing to the diversification of the Angolan economy.

The South Korean ambassador to Angola, Stefan Kwang, expressed his satisfaction with the infrastructure, considering it the best model of partnership between the two states.

The diplomat hoped that projects of this kind would be implemented in the country's 18 provinces with the aim of serving future generations.

The Saurimo Photovoltaic Plant was inaugurated by the minister of Energy and Water, João Borges, and the provincial governor of Lunda-Sul, Daniel Neto.
